The values in that article are for a large SSD. Adjust for a lower capacity and you get Pierre's problem. Notice how TRIM is basically useless (not in general: just as a fix to that particular performance issue). And how benchmarking apps don't do as good a job as looking at the speed at which compressed videos are copied.
Got an SSD for performance and silence, but what about TRIM?

Haven't considered the issue that much in the meantime...my SSD learning "enthusiasm" (well, I can't quite call it that really) has diminished and I have pretty much stopped following developments...right now I am just enjoying the lack of the growling hdd noise, whatever it is I am doing....
Performance has certainly dropped, though, and I will be running a secure erase soon to start afresh...
