Post by Schlotkins » Sun Oct 10, 2004 5:12 pm

Any idea where I can get a cheap 2.5" -> 2.5" IDE cable converter?

Thanks,
Chris

You mean an adaptor to plug a 2.5" drive into a standard IDE?

Directron carries them: http://store.yahoo.com/directron/nbadapter.html

Other places should as well.

Yep, that's what I'm looking for... too bad B&M's don't carry them!

Thanks,
Chris

Pretty much all the B&M stores in Silicon Valley carry them - Fry's, CompUSA, Central Computer, MicroCenter, etc.

And a supplier for our European readers:

They have both an adaptor and a special cable.

mg1394-

Does CompUSA have an online link to one? I couldn't find one... I could call my local one I guess, but I don't typically trust those sales people. :)

Chris

EDIT - nevermind, I just found it. Weird, I did the same search and it showed up! Maybe something was wrong with CompUSA last night.

I went to 2 CompUSA's that said they had it in stock but none of the sales people could find them in either store. Turns out the adapter also comes with 2.5"->3.5" drive rails and it was hidden inside so we all overlooked them, thinking they were only drive rails.

I don't know if anyone is still looking for a good deal on notebook drive to desktop adapters, but I just received my order of 3 of these, including drive rail adapters, from computergeeks.com. $3.65 apiece. Total cost for 3 adapters, including shipping, was around $16. I received them a few days after ordering. I will be using them on Samsung MP0402H drives, once I get them.
