Need new big silent drive

Post by fouster » Sat Jun 25, 2005 6:39 am

Well I'm running out of space with my 2 Seagate BarracudaIV!!
They both suffer from an irritatting whining!!!
Without them there is just no noise.
So Iwas thiniking to get a new drive.
And my first option goes to Hitachi 250GB but the 2 platter one.!!
If I combine this drive with a silent enclosure would I have a silent drive??

I would have thought the samsung 250GB would be a better bet. Ive got a 160GB and the new bigger ones are meant to be quieter.

Should be very quiet

The Hitachi 250gb T7K250 is great, you won't be dissapointed.

Those Barracuda IVs you have are one of the most quiet 3,5" lines made, ever. You will definitely find any current model louder.

I've got one of the new western digitals and it is basically silent. in my slk-3000b using the standard mounting system and AAM. Not too mention that its only $150 for 320GB @ monarchcomputer.com (woo, less than $.50 per gig).
