Whenever my foot is resting on the case, I can distinctly feel the vibration of long seeks. Should I use another type of bungee cord?

The links work for me, they are just slow.
The bungee cord stands in a bow, that means it is fairly stiff. I would try a more supple bungee cord or clothing elastic.

you could start by using stretchy material instead of 0.5 inch diameter steel rods
