I'm getting a ASUS W3V Laptop from notebookshop.de

I'm getting the 2nd one from the bottom, with 1.73Ghz PM CPU

There you can choose HDs. I'm looking for 80GB atleast. And the choices I have are these:

1. Toshiba 5400rpm 80GB 16MB Cache MK8026GAX
2. Hitachi 7200 rpm 80GB 8MB Cache 7K80 <-- I Really want this one! :D
3. Seagate 5400rpm 100GB 8MB Cacha ST9100823A (Momentus 5400.2)
4. Hitachi 5400 rpm 80GB 8MB Cache 5K80 - Edited in
If you were in my shoes..

EDIT: I'm note looking for the absolute silent HD. I'd be happy with a drive that's about as silent as my Spinpoint P80(Nidec) is.. I'd really like to see a comparison of the Hitachi 7K-series with a 7200 3,5" drive!

Also, the HD recomendation page isn't updated with the last review(s?)..

Some recommendations:

Seagate has quietly released their 7200.1 Momentus, which is a 7200 RPM HDD 2.5". I haven't heard / seen anything in terms of how quiet they are nor how they perform. Hitachi apparently also has released a 7K100, a 100 GB 7200 RPM counterpart to compete with the 7200.1 Momentus (avail in 80/100). Again, I dont know which performs better/quieter =[... but I wanna get me one (that doesn't cost ~$200-250, if memory serves me correctly).

Keep in mind that the 7200 drive may run hotter, requiring more fan use. Not sure if significant difference or not.

Also, not sure how much faster 7200 80g is than 5400 100g.

And, you can always buy a different drive... so you might buy whichever is cheapest, and if unhappy, switch it for a quiet 4200rpm drive or the quietest 5400 drive, and use the original one in an enclosure. This especially can make sense if the (notebook) store has a high markup, but you can get another drive somewhere cheaper, which is what I've seen in the US.

Added the 5K80..

But I could also get any 2,5" HD out there and add it in myself.. So if I take away the limitation of these 4 HDs. Which 80GB+ HD would you recommend? Also I will probably want 5400rpm+..
