Go to Start > Run..., then type in C:\WINDOWS\System32\diskmgmt.msc and hit enter. The drive should show up in there. You'll need to format it. Then it should be accessible via My Computer.
If it doesn't show up in the Disk Managment utility, check and see if the BIOS recognizes the drive during POST.

No, Bios doesn't recognize new 2.5 HD
I put the new HD in a laptop and the laptop BIOS did see the new 40gig hd.
I next tried the 10GIG hd from the laptop in my PC to no avail.
I tried the new hd a number of ways - as the only HD, that is, I used same ribbon as 3.5 drive. I tried it as a slave to the 3.5 HD. I then disocnnected the cdr and and DVD drives and tried the new HD as the only drive on the secondary ribbon.
My pc is ASUS TUSL2-c with 1.2 Celeron. Is the pc too old to take a 2.5 drive or is there something very basic that I'm missing?
thanks, Steve

Must be something you're missing. I used 2.5" HDDs with a couple of TUSL2's as well as Abit ST6's and they worked fine. It's been so long that I can't specifically remember any special settings, but I know that I always ran the latest BIOSes on all my S370 boards.fred9 wrote:My pc is ASUS TUSL2-c with 1.2 Celeron.
