Q on Nero DriveSpeed

Post by eternizer » Wed May 03, 2006 11:18 pm

I installed Nero DriveSpeed and it shows only one speed.
My drive is BenQ DW1655.
When launched, Nero DriveSpeed has two buttons which say "Silent" and "Fast", respectively.
When I hit the "Silent" button, nothing's changed and the speed is still "48X".
How can I make this thing work?

I've got a similar question regarding an LG 4163B. Nero DriveSpeed shows various speeds possible with this drive (40X, 20X, 1X), but nothing changes audibly when they're selected.

I used to have an LG 4120B.

IIRC, when I tried to lower the read speed of a DVD R disc with movie files, the drive didn't lower the rpm immediately. If you try to read the contents of the drive in Explorer, you'll then notice the drop in speed. It's a little slow to respond, I guess.

EDIT: nvm. I just tried Nero Drivespeed on my LG H20L. It doesn't drop the speed. funny.

On the other hand, my Sony DVD ROM drive (Liteon clone) drops the speed immediately.

I find I have to click the "Stop" button in DriveSpeed to make it apply the settings. Dunno if this will work for anyone else.
