I have 2 installed on my comp. Its quiet as hell, i dont know whats wrong with yours maybe you installed it wrong or something?

I do think the varying opinions of drive accoustics have a lot do with how a drive's being mounted, and what kind of case it's put in. I'm sure there's some degree of variance across different factories and revisions though.

I agree about mounting, and also agree with some comments about the middle cage being quieter then the bottom on a 182.
I have tried both and found the mid cage more tolerable.
Because I needed to mount a fan there I moved the drive to the bottom.
I don't think it likes being used sideways at all!
So, I bought a GUP 2002c and placed that in a 5inch bay of my 182.
The vibration was still there!
So I stuck it at the bottom with no mounting and it sounds alot better.
It has now started to vibrate alot again. Its weird.
It does have 1 error which showed up using the samsung estool.
Maybe its becoming a duffer? I've had it for about 4 months now.
