SAMSUNG SpinPoint T166 HD321KJ 320GB is great
I was originally using the Samsung SpinPoint T 400 GB but I was setting up my file server and needed another 400 GB. I decided to risk it and purchased the new 320 GB version because it has 166GB/platter and 16 MB cache.
I'm using it right now and it's excellent. I think the idle noise is a tad quieter than the 400 GB and the seek noise is noticeably quieter. Seeks are duller and don't stand out as much.

Performance is pretty good too, HD Tach scored around 67MB/s. That's really close to the 750GB Seagate so I guess the high density platters work. I'm running HD Tach and Windows on the same drive so I probably lost a few MB in the benchmark.computergeek22 wrote:really considering this one. 320gb for 90 bucks. can't go wrong...

16.6 with AAM 14.3 without AAM. I'm running Windows and the test on the Samsung so the benchmarked seek time is probably higher.winguy wrote:Hi,
What are the HDTach seek times for the HD321KJ with and without AAM?
I haven't heard any major complaints about quality and they come with a 3 year warranty. Before using the Samsungs I had a 150 GB Raptor and I'm happier with the Samsung. No reliability problem? I'm about to buy 2 Samsung T166 320gb to replace my current Raid 0 Raptors 74gb
