Please compare Samsung 400GB HD401LJ with 500GB HD501LJ

Hello

Many people here in SPCR seem to like the 500Gb Samsung HD501LJ (16MB SATA)
Before that many people here liked the 400GB Samsung HD401LJ (16MB SATA).
And of course the recommended list likes the Western Digital WD5000KS but I am not interested in it.

One big difference between the two Samsungs is that the HD501LJ uses T166 platters while the HD401LJ uses T133 platters.

I would like to think about getting the Samsung HD501LJ but the few dead-on-arrival experiences along with a lot of people talkng about vibration and loud seek noise make me cautious about this drive.

Can anyone tell me how these two Samsungs compare? (Perhaps you have got both hard drives or perhaps you have been following the drive comparisons here quite closely and have drawn conclusions about these two which are not actually posted.)

Thank you.

Today I installed a new HD501LJ in place of my old HD400LJ which is now used for backup only. Both drives were extremely quiet in my Antec Solo (Nexus 92mm 5v CPU, Nexus 120mm 5v exhaust, SeaSonic PS with Japanaflow fan swap at 5v). My computer is on a desk one foot from my left ear and is barely audible. I am not sure about vibration because the drive is suspended. In total I have purchased four Samsung SATA drives and I have never been troubled by noise or unreliability.
