I need suggestions for silencing my WD MyBook; it makes a lot of noise in 2 ways:
1) It vibrates when it spins up/seeks/writes
2) It takes a 'long' time for it to spin down
Also, it's really annoying that it spinns up (and thereby makes noise) when I open the Explorer, eventhough I do not open the drive...
Questions:
A) What is the most efficient way of dampening the vibrations? -maybe a silicone mat of some sort?
B) Is there a way to change the spin up/down time
C) and finally, can I prevent it from spinning up when opening Explorer, except for the case that I open the drive?
