Obtaining drive temps from RAID (Seagates in Intel raid)

Post by sundevil_1997 » Sun Oct 07, 2007 4:00 pm

I've got 2 Seagate drives in an Intel Matrix RAID1. The Seatools utility only shows there being 1 drive, not 2...so it's already being fooled. When I select that drive and try to get some in info (specifically temps), it comes back as fail. So I'm sure the raid is what's fooling it.

I'm trying to test their temps while installed in the case, and so I really don't want to unraid them just to check on them...definitely not worth that.

anyone know how I can get temps on these while they're operating normally in the raid?

generally this is not possible unless the raid chip supports it...i doubt it'd be readable by any SMART utility anyway...

no idea why, but i've never seen it in my experience of raid setups...

i use a server raid card from areca that has its own temp monitoring, but that doesn't link automatically with speedfan or anythign useful (yet :)
