Western Digital MyBook Home Edition 1 Tb

Post by Maverickâ„¢ » Wed Mar 19, 2008 4:17 am

Hello everybody, does anyone have or know this external drive? It seems to be an excellent product considering it has the best TB-drive in the market for power consumption...

I'll use it with a laptop, so someone knows if:

- the chip embedded supports S.M.A.R.T. function
- has a temperature sensor
- it's true that the drive auto power off if not used for some minutes (this features if confirmed will increase very much the number of power cycle  )
- has the On/Off button (in fact many external drive don't have it)

Thanks :)

I can reply only partially, as I have 500GB mybook essential (first version).

The first thing you should note is that this drive is not silent (although I doubt your laptop is either). But, however, it will power off automatically after being idle for something like 15 minutes and has on/off -button.
