What are my candidates for HTPC?

Post by hozer2k » Sun Apr 20, 2008 8:08 pm

Honest, I did a search, but just totally confused. It seems a lot of people like the samsung F1, but it may not be available. I will be purchasing through neweggg.

Priorites for Home Theater PC:
1. Noise. I have a VERY echoey place (little furniture). It doesnt have to be perfect, but should be pretty darn good.

2. Size. This is my first HTPC and I really dont know, but I think 200gb should be a minimum. I can always add on a drive later, just want to make sure the one on the OS is good to go.

3. Performance. Not really sure what I need for a HTPC, but it should be "pretty good". I may not need to be the best in the world, but I am not looking for a 4200 laptop drive either.

Thanks for any help!

Actually, that 4200 RPM laptop drive would be fast enough :D If this is a pure HTPC application (ie just recording and playing media), any HDD is going to be fast enough. I'd recommend something from the WD GP series -- as quiet as you can get for a 3.5", according to SPCR.
