Something like a Sonata/P18x drive sled for 5.25" bays?

Post by mudboy » Wed May 07, 2008 6:02 am

I just got a P180 Mini and want to use the lower two optical drive bays for mounting hard drives. Does anyone make something like this (an Antec hard drive sled with dampeners/decouplers) but for mounting 3.5" hard drives in 5.25" drive bays? I would expect something like this to have normal screw hole case mounts rather than a manufacturer-specific drive rail system. I just need something simple, don't need an internal enclosure/heatsink sort of thing, and I don't really want to suspend the drives because I might be moving the system around a bit.

Thanks

Pete

I have a Logisys cooler/quieter thingy and it's mounted in a 5.25" bay of a Sonata using rubber thingies like this:

The Sonata drive rail thingies screw onto the drive/cooler/rubberthingy assembly, then that slides in the case. If your case has a more standard screw mount then the drive with those things attached would just screw in.

Note the comment in the specs about not being compatible with screwless mounts. I don't think that applies to Antec mounts.

I just bought a 5-drive version of that. Quality product, I recommend it.
