Wester Digital Passport - can you open one up?

Post by klankymen » Fri Aug 22, 2008 6:59 am

I'm thinking about getting myself a WD Passport external 2.5" hard drive.

Does anyone have any experience with them, and can tell me if it's possible to open the case up, and change the hard drive? (Yes, I realize that this would void my warranty, but I'm thinking about once the warranty is almost run out, ie in 2 years time)

Thanks

I've got 2 passports - an "older" 160gb black one (previous series) and a new 320gb Elite Passport. Neither look like they can be opened - there's no visible screws for one thing, so you'd probably have to try to pry it apart and pray that it isn't glued together - sorry I can't give you a clear answer but from what I can see these cases weren't meant to be opened at all...

Edit:
erm, wait, full reverse:
