Memory stick diagnostics

Post by widowmaker » Fri Aug 22, 2008 12:55 pm

Hello, I was wondering if anyone knows of any free software that will run a diagnostic of a memory card. My camera frequently tells me that there was an error formatting the memory stick. I wanted to perform an indepth diagnostic but couldn't find any software for this task. All I see are file recovery tools. Sometimes files would corrupt after shooting an image. chkdsk didn't really help. Any input would be helpful.

Doesn't it work with normal drive diagnostics tool? Western Digital has a tool (Data Lifeguard Diagnostics) that runs from within Windows and it works with USB drives so I think there is a good chance it will work with memory cards too.

Edit: I have tried it out myself now and WD Data LifeGuard Diagnostics for Windows detected my memory card and I could run a diagnostic test on it. Note that you need to run the program as administrator. I tried to run it as a normal user first and it would detect all my drives except for the memory card.
