using 2.5" HDD/SSD in 3.5" bay
What is an easy and cheap way of mounting a 2.5" HDD in a 3.5" internal bay? Has anyone found any decent adapters, or maybe something that would serve to silence the 2.5" HDD in question? I remember buying an adapter on eBay that turned out just to be a standard 5.25"-to-3.5" adapter (and thus useless).
I would personally use two of them for SSD's and one for a quiet HDD, so fitting the screws is more important for me. I don't want to bother with suspending the HDD.
It's sad that most case manufacturers are still not too 2.5"-friendly.

Thanks for the link!
It seems that the Scythe 2.5">3.5" ones are mostly out of stock in the popular places and otherwise cost almost $50 shipped, so I won't go with that. I was thinking maybe going for something cheap for the SSD's and something like the NoiseMagic for the notebook HDD.... but now I'm thinking I might go for a 4x 2.5"-in-5.25" cage (if I happen to get a case that would fit it).

one I've found
I recently got a couple of these:

and they work pretty well, although they may be overkill if you don't have two drives to mount.

Well, I'm using SATA HDD's, so that particular one is out. But I've found a couple ~$30 dual 2.5" drive ones for 3.5" slots (hot-swap ones). I might go with one those to save space and power connectors.cordis wrote:I recently got a couple of these:

Where did you find this item ? I'm looking for one, but SAS backplanes are so expensive !shleepy wrote: Well, I'm using SATA HDD's, so that particular one is out. Just to put my SSD and a HDD together.

I've bought these at the store (not online). They're fine for SSD since it's a hard mount. Wouldn't use them for regular HDs, though.
