Specifically the WD3000HLFS
I'm upgrading an aging Spinpoint T1 and finally getting my NAS setup, so I don't need much space.
Are there still inconsistencies as with the earlier batches? whine/clicking/heat, etc? Or has WD sorted this out with the newests releases?
Thanks for any input.
*I was thinking of going with the 150GB single-platter, but the 300GB is only $20 more.
How are the current batches of the Velociraptors?

Don't know what prices you've seen, but I just wanted to mention that at ZipZoomFly the 150GB is $170 and the 300GB is $229 so there's a bit more difference. They also list the Icepack-less 300GB one for $169(!) but it is not in stock.*I was thinking of going with the 150GB single-platter, but the 300GB is only $20 more.
Only $20 price difference? Odd...
To the point - mine (150 GB), purchased ca 6-7 months ago (would that be fresh enough?) behaves fine. I needed to put it in SQD tho. W/o enclosure it was the single noisiest part of my PC. I left AAM at deafault - kinda like the seeking sound anyway. The drive performs perfect, no strange noises, nothin to complain on.

$185 WITHOUT REBATES.kater wrote:What a stupid place I live in. 300GB version is >$350 here. 150Gb is <$240. When I got mine the USD/PLN rate was a little better so it didn't hurt that much. Still tho, it was mighty spensive GRRR...
