What do we buy these days regarding big storage drives?
WD, Samsung or Seagate?

I just can't sort through all the information.

Please advise me.

Regards.

The WD Green was just reviewed and it appears to be the quietest large drive.

Hi, if you have room and funds for it I highly recommend a Scythe Quiet Drive. By SPCRs review it takes 3-4dB(A) off the drive noise, enough to make a moderate drive quiet and a quiet drive really quiet. I've been using one for couple years and think it's great :)

Thanks, i went out to buy a couple of WD 1.5TB drives today but my hardware pusher was all out of those drives so i will have to wait til monday where he'll get some of the 64MB cache ones.

I'm thinking i'm gonna check out the Scythe Quiet Drive boxes, not that i find my current WD5000AAKS or WD6400 drives noisy but they do vibrate a bit too much for my liking when they get older, and it makes my P182 hum some, which bothers me.
Those Scythe boxes might help remedy that problem.

Both Scythe Quiet Drive and Himuru needs to be softmounted.
I use foam under them and make sure they stay in one place with help from a hot glue gun.
