2.5" old hdds

Post by nicko » Sun Jan 31, 2010 5:44 am

Hi,

I'm looking for a 20-60gb 2.5" ide hdd to be a boot disk for my NAS/Print server/torrent system, which is on 24/7...

At this time, I'm using Win 2003 Server, but maybe I'll switch to Win 2008 Server...

Win is now on WD 1TB Caviar Green and I'm completely satisfied with it, except I want to use a second disk for windows....

Since I don't remember at all which old drives used to be quiet and maybe have had a heads parking feature I'm asking for recommendation.

I'm voting for 1 platter drives and I don't care about performance, just idle noise...

Thanks! :)

Samsung MP0402H 40 GB was the quietest 2.5" drive. I think it can still be found.

The WD Scorpio 40gb is an excellent model also, I'm sure you'll find one of the two.
