I have a samsung f3 1tb drive in a dock 120 cm away from my left ear..
the high pitch whine from this drive is really annoying
this drive literally makes my left ear hurt after using the drive for a while and I sometimes get a ringing noise on the left ear..
I also read this post about a guy getting tinnitus symptoms from the f3
http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showth ... p=15486999
I have two of these drives and they both make the same type of noise.
But I dont hear the other disk as much because I put it in a fractal design r2 case and put dampening materials around the drive to kill the high frequencies.
anyone else using this drive? you think it can damage your ears?

Hi, funnily enough when I did a quick back to back of F1 vs F3 (both 1TB) I did note a high pitched noise from the F3 that isn't present in the F1.
It's not loud at all so I think there is no way it could physically damage your hearing, but I can understand it "doing your head in!"
The sort of faint high frequencies can easily be blocked / damped so I didn't think it a problem.
My F3 is in a Scythe Quiet Drive and the high pitched noise is completely blocked.
Maybe you can try to get a Samsung F1 drive?
Regards, Seb
