Rubber hard drive grommets question
I've got an Antec 4482B case that comes with rubber grommets for the hard drive, but they're too hard & the hard drive vibrates quite a bit. I was thinking of buying these grommets to replace them & wondered if anybody has used them & what they think of them.

If these are no good, where can I get some good soft grommets? I'm not looking for complete silence, I just want it quieter. Thanks.

You were right, grommets don't seem to work in this case. I tried some different grommets & they didn't seem to make any difference. My Antec Sonata came with soft grommets that the hard drive lays on top of & this setup works pretty well, but mounting a hard drive with grommets on the sides doesn't seem to work.
I ended up putting the hard drive in a Zalman Hard Drive Heatipe ZM-2HC1. This got rid of most of the vibrations. This case will be moved around some so I wasn't comfortable suspending the drive.

I can't think of a better way of mounting a hard drive if you're moving the case around - what better shock absorber? Delicate electronic equipment that gets moved around a lot in flight cases is often mounted on springs within the flight case, it's the same principal really.tawd1992 wrote:

As long as the drive can't slip out of it's suspension harness you're fine. Bungee (shock cord) is probably better than knicker elastic in this respect.
But anyway you've sorted it now...
