[Quiet] my ShareCenter

Post by gcwebbyuk » Sun Sep 22, 2013 1:04 pm

I have recently bought a DLink ShareCenter - DNS320 - as it was the cheapest NAS drive for me to test.

I plan to use it in place of my Athlon file server. It works well as a server, and the file transfer speed is pretty similar.

The only trouble is the fan noise. Is there any way I can replace the fan in the device - if so what type of fan to use?

Or should I just stop being a cheap skate and buy a better NAS - if so which one is the quietest?

My Asustor has a temp controlled 70mm fan. The two Seagates in it make more noise then the fan, and they're pretty quiet.

I haven't seen one to disassemble it...but it does connect via Ethernet. How about using a longer cable and sticking it in a closet? :)
