XP90 or Ninja for P150 and AMD x2 3800+

Post by Dru » Wed Feb 01, 2006 4:49 pm

I already have the P150 and AMD x2 3800+ processor. I've been reading about different heatsinks to use. I've pretty much narrowed it down to the Thermalright XP-90 or Scythe Ninja.

The Ninja just looks so huge. And it's fairly heavy. I'm leaning towards the XP-90, but from some of the threads, there's "some" noise from it. Also, the XP-90 is on average $20 more than the Ninja?

Anyways, my "tolerance" for PC noise has somewhat increased. I used to have a "silent" system but can now deal with a "very quiet" system.

Does the XP-90 come with a fan at all? If not, is it "pretty quiet" with a Nexus 92 fan on it?

Thanks.

I guess its your lucky day, I had them both in P150, hands down Ninja wins, it doesn't even need a fan.

I'd get the Ninja. Should be able to run it fanless on that X2 3800+. Check out the link in my signature, it has information about my undervolted X2 3800+ and fanless Ninja. Processor temperature only reaches ~50*C even with both cores loaded 100%.
