x2 4200 temperatures
Hi everyone. I recently installed a x2 4200+ (Manchester core). With a ninja and a nexus set to low it idles around 42ºC and gets up to 59ºC at full load. It's one of those processor with a high TDP (96W or so). Are this temperatures right? and more importantly, safe?

It's safe, but doesn't look normal. It looks like you don't have CnQ enabled properly.
My overclocked 4200+ idles at around 35C using a Zalman 7700AlCu that is modfied to use a 120mm Nexus. The BIOS keeps it running at 650rpm until the temp passes 55C, and then the fan goes to full speed. It only has to do this at or near full load, and the higher fan speed keeps the temp below 60C.
Now if a Ninja is supposed to be better than my Zalman 7700, I'd say something is wrong with your setup.

x2 4200 temperatures
Hi,
I have the same setup in a p180. My idle temps are around 44 and loads at around 54 max. I use an ASUS motherboard and the CnQ utility tells me that it volted at around 1.35V. Any comments about this? Any suggestions as to improve performance?
I guess my situation is similar to isendir.

I have an X2 4600 (110 watt I believe) on an Asus A8N-sli Premium.
It Idles at 38-40 and the highest I have had it is 55 .
Antec Sonata (original) case , Thermalright XP90-C with NMB-Mat low speed fan on a Zalman Fanmate at just above the lowest setting .
It has a couple of 7800 GTs in there so Silent is NOT going to happen Quiet has to do .
Your temps sound a tad warm - but not dangerous !

Please help, I have just come across a problem. I use a ISDN internet connection and my modem is far away from the computer so I use 2 usb repeater cables to connect the modem to the computer. When I have CnQ enabled in Windows XP, the internet connection in around half an hour just doesnt work. It says I am still connected but there is no response from the connection. Please help!

I am currently running a 65w Windsor core 4200+ with the stock AMD cooler and getting temperatures of between 37-40 at idle and 52-62 under full, dual-core load CPUBurn x2). Keep in mind that this is with the stock cooler - heatsinkfactory.com sent me the wrong order initially and I am waiting for the correct one to arrive. Also keep in mind that the lower load temps (between 52-58ish) are for stock clock speeds, and those higher (58-62ish) are for overclocked @ 2.7 GHz. My previous setup consisted of a Northwood 3.0 P4 overclocked to 3.7GHz, and the Ninja with a Nexus fan mounted to it kept the processor right around 38-40 degrees under load. I believe that processor is rated for a TDP of 85w, which drives me to the conclusion that your setup is indeed running a little hot. Perhaps you should post about your airflow scheme, and we'll go from there.

I am trying to use RightMark and I found that with that, dropping the multiplier will affect the usb connection. Pretty much straight away if I just set it on a lower multiplier with the same VID, the connection will be affected. What is going on??? I would like to keep the cpu temp lower but I cant if I want to stay connected. By the way, yes repeaters are stupid but its a temporary thing.
As for temperatures, without CnQ I have idles of around 43 still... do I need to make some changes? Is it the seating of my heatsink? My airflow situation: I have a p180 2 tricool fans exhaust on top and back. One tricool fan on ninja blowing up and one intake on the top hdd cage. All fans are on the low setting. My video card is on Zalman fanless heatsink. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

sorry to bring up this old topic, but wow...these reports make me think i have some super temps.
i have s939 x2 4600+ (manchester) on a8nsli premium and stock coller/fan, but with AS5 paste. i don't use cool and quiet, but use q-fan set to start working at full speed once CPU gets to 51C. case is antec sonata II and only has the stock rear outtake fan at lowest speed. these are the temps i get:
around 40C idle and MAX 52C full load on both cores for 1+ hour in SUMMER, when it's around 30C in room. so, judging by that i'd say there's definitely something wrong with your temps.

KeithT, did you get your problem sorted? after my switch to my new mobo, my wifi dies after aproximately 40-60 mins... doesn't seem to be a question of the puter changing multipliers though...
second, I guess I got a nice cpu and all:) at idle with with stock heatsink at 35% ~44C. at load with fan at 70% I get 55-56C....

The PSU affects to the temps too, specially in small cases or with bad airflow. In my antec sonata with my X2 4600+ Manchester temps went 6-8º higher at idle when I switched to the Antec Phantom 500 PSU.
My idle temps are now around 42ºC with ambient temp of 25ºC. They were around 35ºC with the same ambient conditions.
So 42ºC may seem high, but it doesn't necessarily mean that your processor is wrong. It could be that your system has bad airflow. And while your temps are in safe range you shouldn't get worry (42ºC idle 55ºC load seems safe to me).
