Side CPU duct location question

Do all mobos have their CPUs in the exact same location? If they don't, how do you side CPU duct creators deal with switching mobos (if you have to). I would build myself a CPU duct but that question is the reason I haven't yet.

the vary slightly from mobo to mobo.

you'll notice that the vercase with the cpu duct actually allows you to move the duct around a little to position it as close as possible to the cpu location.

Do you think it would be a good idea to build the duct anyway? Perhaps with a funnel (that opens up) at the end to allow for variations in CPU location? How much louder is it likely to be?

If you go to a large hardware store you can find ribbed aluminum duct in 3" and 4" diameters. It can be bent to whatever you need. If you use something else you prefer for the original duct, the aluminum is an option the second time around.

That sounds like a good idea. Have you had experience using it? How did you attach the vent to the side of the case? Did you have to get a separate clamp?

The duct I built will ideally work with abit mobo's of the NF series, as they have the sockets in the same place
