News from Cooler Master !

Post by doudou » Thu Oct 28, 2004 6:16 am

Hey guys have a look at that ! It's a review from the brand new Cooler Master Hyper 48.
http://www.oc-tuning.com/modules/wfsect ... ticleid=44

Okay it's in French, but you should all be able to read that the maximum speed is 1400 rpm and the minimum is...... 530 rpm !! :P
Isn't that great news for all silent pc aficionados ?
Other characteristics on Cooler Master web site.

Noticed the weight ? 864g ! Gulps !

Any one interested by a review ?

It's a nice idea on their part, but it can't even beat the CNPS7000, which has had it's butt handed to it by the ultra-light-weight XP-90 and XP-120.

Yeap but,

I guess that on the silent front it beats any other HSF, with only 530 rpm. Just buy the fan, and plug it on a XP 90 or SI 97 if you like

Actually, it seems the sample I had requested had already arrived.

Won't be long now.

Yes maybe so - But at 1/2 the RPMs , and hopefully 1/2 the noise (or less)
The speed of the Coolermaster at 12v is the same as the Zalman at 5v and it appears that the noise is the same also .( I have not done anything in french since highschool , 30+ years ago , So I am more than a little rusty )

Based on the comparison with the Zalman, I would take this heatsink very seriously. Looking at the RPM, it must be doing something very right...

Edward Ng - can you verify if, when installed, the fan is centered over the CPU?

One thing keeping me way from the XP-90 is the fact that the fan is positioned elsewhere, which makes it incompatible with all the hard work I put into my duct.

Also looking forward to your results and if you can test it with a Nexus Real Silent 92mm... :)

It's funny...

I have coordinated the delivery of samples to other reviewers, so I tend to know if/when certain products' reviews are in the works (particularly from Cooler Master and/or Jab-Tech)...

But no, I'm not the one who's handling Hyper 48 (normally I do the P4 stuff from Cooler Master). Limited supply of samples came into issue here (we need to have acoustic recordings and sound pressure measurements done for new fans, and this cooler has its own fan). If I recieved the one sample, we'd not have recordings for the community to hear, and that would kind of bad, no?

There's also an issue of time constraints for me as of late; hopefully things will ease up a little soon.

Either way, my influence will still show in a couple of the reviews that are coming, even if it's not 100% done by me and edited by Mike.
