Zalman 7000Cu for S754
What are the drawbacks of this cooler? I love how it looks and Im seriously considering replacing my EXOS and getting the 7000Cu. How does it perform and is it really silent? thanks

It's heavy and expensive. Those are the drawbacks.extreme4377 wrote:What are the drawbacks of this cooler?
It performs well and is virtually silent. (NOTE: My experience with the 7000 is with the P4 only, but I think this experience can be extrapolated to the A64-754)
No drawbacks other than what sthayashi mentioned.
Well, if you are real silent fanatic, you want to mod it to dampen the vibrations from the fan to the base (as with any other fan based cooler).
Instructions here at spcr forum, use the search.
Other than that, I think it's a great cooler.
Of course, currently Thermalright XP-90 with a sufficiently silent fan does manage to produce slightly lower temps.
XP-120 even more so, but it doesn't fit all motherboards.
(also I haven't checked socket 754 compatibility).

It's heavy yes. But there's a AlCu version that's equally good but much lighter
Prices for it have come down significantly. AlCu is even cheaper.
With the included fanmate set to low, it's very quiet. If you mod it with a quieter fan like the Nexus or add a second inline resistor, it'll run very very very quiet and still cool well.
I love this cooler. It performs well in any case condition, even with low airflow. There are better coolers but none I've seen that can operate with such effectiveness in low-flow situations.
