Barton Mobile + Si-97 + 120mmfan=overkill/problems?
I've been seaching the internet, SPCR, and other forums for good deals on my future setup...which is on a really tight budget.
I stumbled upon a good deal on 10 yate loons for 4.06$ each, at tekgems and i was wondering if anyone has tried to mount a 120mm fan on SI-97? i don't really wanna buy a 10$ 92mm fan if one of these 12cm ones do just fine.
also any disadvantages to using a 120mm fan on it...air beeing wasted on the sides of the HS?

I have the SI-97, with a 92mm Nexus on it. I really dunno how you'd get a 120mm on there. You'd have to be a great ghetto modder, and you should also consider how much space you're going to have (PSU above) in your case, and with your mobo setup.
I don't really see why you need to buy 10 fans for 40 buckaroos, just buy one 92mm Nexus for ~$15 and one 120mm Nexus for your rear exhaust (if your exhaust is 120mm, otherwise just get a quiet 80mm or whatever) for another ~$15. Boom you have two fans doing you good for at the most, $30, instead of 10 fans that probably arent going to work for this application and are going to cost you $10 more total.

i have plans on making a bottom exhaust for my case and putting a 12cm there also so that gets the cost up to 45$...not to mention it's totally bad business to buy 3 for 45 when u can get 10 for 45$, plus i'll share those 10 fans with my friends who also want to benefit from that deal but have no use for 10 fans.

alright alright, you guys showed me. I stuck my own Nexus 120mm on top of my SI-97 and volted it down to 7v. Then I stuck my stock Antec 120mm (from my 3700BQE) and volted that to 7v as my exhaust.
Since the stock Antec PSU loves to ramp up, I strapped the 92mm Nexus at 7v onto the front intake grills with duct tape, along with having the stock fan inside of the psu for exhaust.
However, running prime95, my psu still ramps up to 1900rpm even though the exhaust is cold air! I don't know why it would ramp up even though it's not hot, or even warm.
moral of the story, yes it'll work, and it'll work well.

Badger- unfortunately many Power Supply's do not regulate fan speed by temperature, but instead by how many watts are be outputted. Therefore, as soon as you fun Prime95, the CPU and other stuff starts using more power, and this is why the Power Supply ramps up. And overall, Antec's are not well designed for as quiet operation as we are looking for, I made the switch from Antec to a Seasonic, and have been amazed by the difference.
