My silent boost isn't so silent.
specs from overclocker cafe:
Specifications
* Application: Socket A processors via a 3-notch hold down clamp.
* Material: Copper base and fins w/ aluminum fan attachment.
* Fan: 80 x 80 x 25mm
*
* Fan Speed: 2,450 RPM
* Air Flow: 27.5 CFM
* Sound level: 21 dBa
* Connector: three-pin
According to Asus Proble, the fan is running @ 2848, or about 400 rpm over that what the stock says. What could be causing this, and how can I slow it down?

Except for Nexus, pretty much all fan specs are lies or exagerations.
Buy a fan controller or zalman fanmate to slow the fan down to a tolerable level.
Alternatively, switch the 80mm fan with one on the recommended page of the main SPCR site.

Either 5V it or swap the fan, but that would compromise cooling. Silent boost is weaker than Aero7 to start with.

I have TT silentbooster and it is working ok.
Just swap the fan - it is extremely loud
You could also decouple fan, because metal shroud of TT sb is vibrating a lot.
It is working suprisingly good with fan@5V in "suck" mode - which is just what i need in my HTPC setup.

What temp is the CPU running at? What kind of Asus motherboard? My A8V has as thing in the bios called "Q-Fan" that'll slow down the fan if the CPU is running cool. Generally my silentboost spins at around 1800rpm.
