Scythe NCU-2000 and Ninja

Post by mrochester » Thu Aug 04, 2005 3:36 pm

I currently have a Scythe NCU-2000 heatsink on my processor, and I'm trying to find out how much better or worse the Ninja is. I'm suprised SPCR didn't compare them within the review of the Ninja, so does anyone have any idea how they compare?

There were some discussions about comparing the two. IIRC, the Scythe is a bit better, but not by enough to justify a replacement.

Great thanks, I'll keep my NCU-2000 for my shiny new Athlon64 X2 3800 then :D

I agree. For maximum performance, I'd say it depends how the cooler will be oriented and what your fan configuration will be. When the price/performance ratio comes into play, I think you'd be better off sticking with your existing cooler; another 50 dollars for a potential two or three C wouldn't be worth it to me unless I was already approaching critical temperatures.

Both coolers are made by Scythe, btw (slip of the tong... er, fingers?).

Well it'll be put into an Antec P180 case, with hopefully just a fan at the top with the rear 120mm mount blocked off.

mrochester... of QPC forum fame? I wonder if Skippy has noticed the mass exodus to SPCR!

you wish... just recognised the name, tis all.

The QPC forum has been grinding to a bit of a halt recently, perhaps due to biased nature of admin? Let's face it they do sell all the parts they recommend! Or maybe i'm being too harsh.

Sorry, bit off topic.

Well they're bound too since they're trying to run a business!

Yeah I don't blame them, I'm just a naturally cynical guy!

btw I know SPCR have links with EndPCNoise in the US and FrontierPC in Canada, I reckon we'd all benefit from an agreement between Skippy and MikeC... Like getting an SPCR edition Antec P180 in the UK! I think KustomPC tried to set it up but didn't think they could shift enough to make any money. Where's your P180 from?

Mine's from OCUK (boo hiss) and yes I read up on KustomPC not being able to get them since they had to order at least 240. I would love the black version, but it seems a wait of 2 months is in order for one of those.

Maybe Antec/MikeC could sell the SPCR badges on ebay? For all the Brits feeling left out over here.
