Hi,
Like many people here, I'm not so happy with the noise of the 7700 at full speed. I did re-assemble the Zalman and it look like very easy to replace the fan.
I believe many of us here have replaced the fan with the quieter fan. Are you happy with the noise and temperature after fan replcement? Please share your opinion here
Looking to replace mine with Nexus 120mm. Also to replace the Foxconn mobo with the Jetway A210GDMS.
Thanks,
tempoct
PS: My other thread about Zalman 7700 w/ Venice 3200 running hot is TOTALLY due to *BAD* mobo read out. Tried with other two boards and got much more reasonable results. I guess this cooler has a great design then.
Zalman 7700: Who did fan replacement? Happy afterward?

The Nexus fan swap was fairly easy. Just be careful to mark your drill points carefully (if you want to hard-mount the Nexus fan). I also had to put a spacer (plastic washer) between the Nexus fan and the bracket because the Nexus' base is thinner than the Zalman.
I was pleased with the mod, which made the 7700-CU nearly silent. However, I have since replaced the Nexus with a AOC/Evercool aluminum fan because I needed higher RPM during the summer. If you plan on connecting the fan to a fanmate controller or PWM-device, then you may want to pick up a higher speed fan... just in case. The Yate Loon D12SL-12 has slightly higher RPM than the Nexus, or D12SM-12 has even more top-speed RPM.
