SI-120 and 939Dual SATA2 no go!?

Post by chdude3 » Sun Oct 02, 2005 5:07 pm

I thought the SI-120 was supposed to be more compatible, and so I ordered it for my Asrock 939Dual-SATA2 motherboard. Knowing that the XP-120 fit the board, I thought there'd be no problem.

Until I tried to install it - the supplied retention mechanism does not fit the motherboard! They say to place it on and screw it down, but there's not even anything for the supplied screws to thread into.

Can anyone give me a hand? Thanks in advance!

you need an A64 backplate for the motherboard because the retention mechanism Asrock uses just has plastic clips or something.

usually there is a backplate that provides two threaded insterts to screw into. Zalman includes backplates with their heatsinks but a lot of other companies don't.

find something like this for a few bucks

Thanks man. I actually just found that information searching around a while ago. A local computer store can get a bracket in for $6 so I'll pick one up soon. At least I can still use the stock HSF for now - it's just not quiet!

Thanks for the help, it's appreciated.
