I need help buying a Socket 939 CPU Cooler

Post by elendil850 » Tue Apr 18, 2006 12:17 pm

I need help purchasing a cooler for my AMD 64 3200+

I'm currently using a HUGE Chieftec aluminum "matrix" case, but will most likely be upgrading to a P150 or a P180. (Most likely the P150)

What would be the best cooler for this case?

I've been looking at:

Please help!

A vote for the Ninja. You should be able to easily run it passively with just the case fan going.

Zalman's are nice, but the fans can be a touch noisy. Lots of people here seem to be fan's of the Ninja.

if you want go for exteme silence, the Ninja with a small ghetto duct job would do nicely

Go ducted Ninja. Works like a charm.

The 9500 has a nasty fan that is hard to replace.

I vote for the Sonic Tower. Put a YateLoon on it and thats it. Best cooling performance from what i have read so far.

I have both the Ninja and XP-120. The XP-120 cools the VRM as well since it blows down, the Ninja has the CPU about 1C warmer but it's unfanned and not ducted on my system. Both are not exactly easy to install, but the XP-120 requires a lot more force. Either is a decent choice. With a P180 I'd say the Ninja is the obvious choice if your MB can accomodate the size - that's my configuration now.
