Conroe and Zalman CNPS 9500 LED

Post by Stephen » Sat Aug 05, 2006 6:22 am

I am collecting parts for a new build. I plan on getting either the Conroe E6700 or the X6800 - depending upon where the prices are in a couple of months. I most likely will get an Intel mobo - something like the D975XBX Rev. 2, depending upon what else is out in a couple of months.

I do not plan on overclocking. Given that, would the Zalman CNPS 9500 LED provide better cooling than the stock HSF? Would the Zalman be any quieter than the stock HSF?

Have you read the latest MaximumPC? They used a Zalman 9500 in their latest version of the Dream Machine. They even turned the Zalman fan OFF and ran their creation full crank without troubles.

I agree w/ mitchy -
The 9500 isn't that quiet. I've removed the stock fan and come up with a quieter way of pulling air past the copper vanes.

I was thinking about a Zalman 9500 LED, too. It's not the quietest around, but it's ok for me.

P.S.
Anyone know if is there any clearance issue with the 9500 and an Antec P150? I'm thinking about a system based on zalman 9500 + P150 + P5W DH Dlx...
