Ninja Copper Version

Its just brief foto, but its here. Full Copper Version of Ninja. *Blinks still hard*

I wonder how much that thing weights? Unfortunately it seems to have regular ninja's heatpipe arrangement. Full copper version probably weights a lot. probably around 900 grams. I do hope then Scythe puts bolt thru board attachment system.

Looks like it could be the new king of cooling.

According to:
http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Computex2007/Scythe/
It won't be released.

"The Ninja is one few passive heatsinks out there and Scythe also has the all copper variant at the booth. This one will not be sold, as the material is simply to expensive to justify the slight increase in performance."

Scythe has tendency to show coolers at Cebit/Computex with full copper design, but not all make it to market:)

I think that pic is from the begining of 2006 and never made it to market. I bought the Ninja like a month before I saw it and thought "O' crap I shouldve waited!".

edit: maybe not the pic I thought, I didnt notice the Ninja Mini the first time I looked at it. I first heard of this thing a few months back and have been impatiently awaiting its release.

You probably think that because Scythe show a copper Ninja every year. It was mentioned here in 2005, and again in 2006.

most likely to show customers the possibilities, if a large customer sees something in ordering 1000 Ninja HSF but wants them in all copper, he can see it's possible:)

The main reason the copper version is not available, as I recall, is that there was no real performance increase for the increased cost.

For a recent example, check out FrostyTech's recent side-by-side Falcon92 reviews- the aluminum model is neck and neck with the copper, and probably costs significantly less to build.

1-3°C increase in performance, but copper price is going through the roof, such a heatsink, $100 pricetag?

Same as the Zalman 7000-Cu and 7000-AlCu. All copper version was much heavier and more expensive, for only a couple of degrees improvement.

Now what really interests me, is the far left HSF. Why does it have that crazy 90x10mm 13 blade fan? What is the intended application?

That's a northbridge cooler. Large area, very thin (both fan and cooling fins).

Hmm, being that big it'd probably foul either the PCIe slot or the RAM, maybe even the CPU socket...

I would use it as a mobile CPU cooler.

That was what I was thinking. I would use it to cool a Pentium M or a low powered Core Duo or something. Looks too tall for a HTPC though.
