Which CPU cooler option should I go with?

Post by Divardo » Wed Jul 04, 2007 11:46 pm

I am upgrading to a Intel E6850 when the come out later this month. I am considering the Scythe Ninja Plus Rev.B Heatpipe CPU Cooler at the moment. My main priority is a silent pc. I also son't overclock at all. What do you guys think from the below options.

1. Scythe Ninja Plus + No Fan
2. Scythe Ninja Plus + Supplyed Fan 21db
3. Scythe Ninja Plus + Scythe SFlex 800RPM Fan 8db
4. Other CPU cooler

What do you guys think?

First of all try included fan at 5V and at 7V. Included fan is actually not bad at all.

You can buy Zalman fan mate2 or other kind of fan controller. You can also buy inline resistors for fans. Zalman makes 5,5v and 7v inline resistors.

beware on setting at 5v or 7v the stock fan, on heavy tasks the cooling won't be enough.
I won't go under 9v

1) Get a Skt 775 cooler that bolts through, not one that uses push-pins, the difference can be upto 10 degrees (for the same cooler).
2) For a TR Ultra-120 that has a perfectly flat base - check that - I suggest a 1,000 - 1,200 rpm fan that will be temperature controlled.
When idle you may go as low as 450 rpm, but still have enough airflow for full load.

Use the SCURK1 to mount the Ninja. I don't trust those 4 push-pins.

Where do you get the SCURK1 from? Or does it come with it. Also does the Ninjas fans blow air towards the back of the case when mounted?

And does anyone know where you can get the SCURK1 in the UK. As I a very worried about the mounting system with this cooler, and whether stress would be put on it when sliding the case slowly along the floor a couple of foot.
