I'm asking because all of a sudden the fan on mine is buzzing loudly. I have it cooling an e6750 in a DS3R motherboard.

Nobody knows? I was thinking I might have read here or elsewhere that a percentage of users were reporting a fan that goes bad. Mine certainly has. I've never heard such a sound coming from a fan.

Open case when its on and stop fan. If buzz is gone and appears when you release the fan, that's how you can identify motor / bearing noise.

Or identify a loose wire brushing lightly against the fan blades. "Of course," - Felger puffs up indignantly - "something stupid like that has never happened to me :!:
