Passive cooler for s939 3800 amd dual core

Post by kojack » Sat Sep 20, 2008 3:30 am

Are there any good passive coolers for my x2 3800 processor available?

if not, im looking for a very silent cooler...trying to cut noise more.

I have a thermaltake silent boost, that the fan is not so silent anymore, and now that im running vista, when the system shuts down its getting noisyer.

thanks.

I think that depends on the locaton and size of your rear or top case fan as to whehter you can run your CPU HS without a fan,

Ninja, Ninja Mini.

Though a passive CPU cooler by itself has very limited value as it still needs to get airflow from *somewhere* e.g. a case exhaust fan.

I have 2 120mm case fans...one in front one in rear, its a thermaltake tsunami case with no window.

if I should use a fan, what is a really good silent cooler/fan system. I was looking at a nocturna cpu cooler and run their 17db fans too. also, im going to get the 3 layer foam for the sides, top and bottom of my case plus the block offs for the extra drive bays, until I load them with drives...

A Ninja (or Ninja 2) is most likely your best choice if it clears other components on your mobo .

I bought a arctic cooling 64 for it, its not passive, as the couple of post scared me away from doing it. this should work good as its very quiet and im swapping to ac 120mm pwm fans too.
