Zalman 7000 in this case?

Post by murmur2k » Tue Jun 03, 2003 12:43 am

Hey,
I am building a p4 based system and sure that I want a Zalman 7000 copper HS/Fan.
But I also like the look of this case...

The trouble is - since the case is mini ATX, the power supply resides above the area where the CPU will be. I know the Zalman takes up almost 11cm in height so look at this pic...

Do you think it will take a Zalman 7000cu?

If not, can you recommend any other good cases with a similar style that might allow use of the Zalman?

Thanks,

I don't believe there's much chance of it fitting in that space. I know normal coolers that are smaller and they don't fit into the older VAIO case designs which are sideways PSUs as well. On top of that, the small space will require that air will be "split" between the force of the fan in the PSU going in one dircetion and the force of the CPU fan in the other; reducing the effectiveness of both.
