When I installed my Xigmatek S1283...

Post by antivenom » Thu Feb 12, 2009 5:24 am

When I installed my Xigmatek S1283, there was a plastic film across the bottom of the HS covering the flattened heat pipes but when I removed this, it left behind some of the adhesive which I wasn't too happy about. So I got my cloth and some alcohol and started to clean it off but found there was actually a really thick layer of the adhesive which when gathered was a vibrant blue colour :?

After cleaning it off and applying AS5, my temps where all around 30°C (now mid 30's after OCing) but I was just wondering if anyone else had this problem with their S1283.

Probably using IPA to dissolve a water-based pressure-sensitive adhesive made it a little gummy by not dissolving it completely.

Many waterborne PSA are analogous to microemulsions and have a blue hue when concentrated.

citrus-based cleaners usually remove any glues very well.

Wow did you have milk on your dictionary this morning Jhoffma? :)

Heh thanks guys, although it's a pretty rubbish design, and to my knowledge isn't mentioned in the instruction manual at all. Then again, I suppose I can't complain about a HS which is one of the best performing and also cheapest :D
