For Overclocked Q6600 which cooler is best [from the list]

Post by casebuyer » Wed Jun 24, 2009 2:31 am

Which Cooler [Available in My Country] for Intel Q6600 Enermax Modu826 ATI Radeon 3870 System

For Q6600 that I overclock time to time for gfx/render [which means 100 percent CPU load, faster better] yet rest of the time I need silence [the more the better]

Case: Antec P182 case with 3 Tricool fans [not much quite therefore I use them at low settings which still not silent]
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA EP45 DS3R
PSU: Enermax Modu82+ 625 Watt Power Supply Unit

Graphics: HIS ICE ICEQ3 ATI 3870 [which is audible over 50 percent speed] I consider
Arctic Cooling VGA Cooler Accelero S1 Rev.2 21 euro + tax = 57 units
Arctic Cooling Turbo Module 9 euro + tax = 23 units
CPU: Intel Q6600 fan [which is not silent and loudest part at even no load with stock fan] LGA 775
RAM: Patriot 2 GB x 2 Rams 6400

CPU Cooling for Intel Q6600 with and without Overclock LGA 775 [Price by base units]
Arctic Cooling Alpine 7 GT 14.5 euro + tax = 36 units
Arctic Cooling Freezer Xtreme 47 USD + tax = 83 units
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Soket 775 28 euro + tax = 70 units
Arctic-Cooling Freezer 7 LP 25 euro + tax = 60 units

Lc-Power Cosmo Cool Cu

OCZ Vanquisher
OCZ Vendetta
OCZ Gladiator

Thermalright IFX-14 64 euro + tax = 160 units
Thermalright Ultra 120 eXtreme 1366 89 USD + tax = 140 units

Scythe OROCHI 70 euro + tax = 170 units

Xigmatek S1284C Achilles Edition 55 USD + tax = 100 units
Which ones I should consider, and which ones I should not

I'm currently running Q6600 at 3.0 ghz using Termalright Ultima 90 with a very slow 120mm fan is a Solo case.

I didn't want to go any higher since I still value silence over GHZ. and I also want temps to stay well below 60. (currently 52 at full load)

Now for your list

AC freezer 7 PRO is the ONLY AC product I can recommend Its value for money is phenomenal. The Freezer extreme is junk IMO (have it installed in 2 systems and its fairly quiet but sucks at OC - lower clocks than its smaller brother).

OCZ Vendetta 2 is also a good option. So is Xigmatech 1284 (1283 is more suited for Q6600 IMO)

Both TermalRight coolers are very good but are priced higher. If money is no problem my choice would be TRUE but make sure its 775 and not 1366(i7) as you have in your list (should be cheaper too).
