Does AM2 heat sink fit AM3?

Post by coweater58 » Mon Oct 05, 2009 11:31 am

I haven't built an AMD system in over 5 years and don't really keep up with them. I'm build a Computer for a friend and he wants the new Athlon II x4 620 and was wonder if AM2/+ heat sinks fit AM3.

I was looking at the Scythe MUGEN-2, XIGMATEK HDT-S1283, Thermalright HR-01, Scythe Ninja 2 Rev. B. some i did find a AM3 bracket but other none.

He wants to use the Antec mini p180 they would have to fit in the case to.

Appreciate the help thanks.

Yes it does. Just yesterday I installed a Athlon II x4 620 and a XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 on a mATX board (which is a AM2+ board)

Ah, and I also use the Antec mini p180. The HDT-S1283 fits fine.
