Antec launches new range of CPU coolers

Post by lodestar » Fri Aug 06, 2010 6:26 pm

There are three coolers in the range. They are the KÃœHLER Shelf http://www.antec.com/Believe_it/global/ ... d=NzA0MzEz, KÃœHLER Box http://www.antec.com/Believe_it/global/ ... d=NzA0MzE0 and KÃœHLER Flow http://www.antec.com/Believe_it/global/ ... d=NzA0MzE1.

All three feature a 120mm PWM fan, with a range of 700 to 2000 rpm.

Edit: The Box seems to be a variant of the Dynatron G950 Genius, and the Flow looks to be derived from the Dynatron Evo 11. There are some cosmetic differences, and the fan spec is not the same, so it looks to be a bit more than a simple rebrand.

NewEgg is listing all three models at the same price of $49.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductLi ... ion=kuhler.

I like the "Kühler Flow". It should be trivial to mount the cooling ribs near the 120 mm exhaust case fan.

Yep, but will suit those who want to replace the stock cooler without removing the motherboard. Also no conflict with RAM slots I would have thought.

Frankly speaking, Antec's foray into cooler market is a wonder for me. Cooler market are already crowed with me-too products. These coolers doesn't impress me. Why do they want to sell coolers? For brand image?

Push pins are not bad, there is a youtube video where a case with MB and Orochi falls from ~1,5m the pipes break but the push pins don't even move ^^

Push pins will become brittle over time and break. They aren't suitable for repeated removal, they can't be adjusted and installation means pressing down hard on the motherboard.
No, I don't like them much.
In a dream world all CPU coolers would have the mounting system of the Prolima Megahalem. It doesn't get any better than that, I think.

looks like a bolt through installation to me, is everyone just assuming it uses push pins?

japanese review with some pics.

I can only speak for myself here when I say... no. There should be a question mark in my first post. Funny I managed to miss it despite having edited the post twice.
Oh well.

Dynatron Evo 11 has Intel push-pin fittings, one set for each of the three different sockets. So you would expect the Flow to be the same. But there is a graphic of an installed Flow on the Antec website, it is on an Intel motherboard, and it is bolt through. The Box is also bolt through, so it seems that Antec have adopted that as the mounting system for at least these two coolers, and probably for all three in the range.
