Scythe Mugen 2 Rev B bottom screw loose??? [large picture]

Post by twitch » Fri Jan 21, 2011 2:56 pm

Anyone have any issues with the bottom screw being loose? This is the long screw that connects the plate to the bottom of the motherboard. Even with the screw cup on it wiggles quite a bit. Is this normal?

See picture here (I am pushing at the screw on the bottom of the motherboard to make it stick out):

A little motion side to side is not unusual with many heatsinks. It is the"up and down" direction that is critical.

I think what he is saying is he expected the spring to hold it down the the motherboard more firmly and he is seeing vertical play in that location.

I think the real question is how are the temps? If the CPU isn't running hot then that much play may be normal.

Yeah it's the up and down I am concerned about. Even went to lowe's to hack something in place but not successful with nylon washers and such as it needs to be a specific height. Going to return it. Didn't have this much problem with Prolimatech mega. Spoke to teck support at scythe but no resolution.

After multiple discussions with scythe tech support who verified each step, we called it quits and am sending back the scythe. After RMA refund, due to shipping cost, i lost $13 x2 (each way). What a waste. Going back to prolimatech mega which installed without hassle.
