How many have your pc sitting on carpet vs desk/ hard floor?

Post by Dr. Smith » Fri Jul 25, 2003 3:24 pm

Just curious if I would see a decrease in temps by placing my pc on a board or something hard rather than the carpet.

The idea being that cases has the intake for the front fan at the very bottom of the case, so if you are on carpet, the case feet don't life the pc up enough to let air flow in from the bottom.

I've made the bottom opening larger, as well as opened up the intake path on the front of the case, but the largest uninterupted opening would be the one on the bottom edge.

Thoughts?

By all means raise the case off the carpet high enough to allow sufficient airflow to the front intake. Two short 2x4s usually raise the case enough. That's about 1 1/2" off the floor.
