Quiet Xeon 3.06 CPU fans????

Post by phreddyroze » Wed Aug 27, 2003 10:29 am

On the recommendations of this forum, I just put together a Dual Xeon 3.06 in an Thermaltake case with a 450W Fortron Source PS w/noise killer. (The PS is really quiet)

However, the fans that intel provides for the Xeon CPU are extremely noisy.

Can anybody please recommend what to do about this situation?

I was looking at the following fans, but i wasn't sure if they were any good.

Zalman CNPS5100-CU

Cooler Master EIU-S61FS

Please Help!

Thanks to all.

Hi Fred,

I am looking to do the same for my dual 2.4 Xeon machine...let me know if you have found something that does the trick :-)

In addition to the Zalman you listed, I have also found these fan/heatsinks:

SM CoolFlow ® Intel Rev. 2.1 (from Silentmaxx.net)
80mm panaflo L1A fan (from frozencpu.com)

Swiftech has also Xeon HS. It should perform similarly as the other Swiftech HSs, both performance- and noise-wise.

Cheers,

swiftech are meant for high flow fans they preform rather poorly on low flow fans.

I've got hthe swiftech's running in my dual 2.2Ghz system with Vantec stealths in a sonata. Temps are mid 30's and very quiet.
