120mm fans, which is quietest at 12v? Quietest 400W+ PSU ?

Post by acaurora » Wed Feb 11, 2004 5:04 pm

Hi, I'm looking to find out which is quieter, the papst 4412 or the panaflo, both 25mm thick. If any of you know where to even FIND the 25mm-thick panaflo fan that is supposed to be super quiet, please email/post the link here. Been spending an hour online and can't find anything =[

Also, do any of you have any recommendations on a 400+ W PSU that is also quiet? I was thinking of the Enermax Noisetaker series or the Enermax Whisper series. I had them in my last computer, and they did pretty well in noise and performance. I sold them to my uncle last year, so, if any of you can help, please post your advice/links if possible. Thanks ^^

I haven't heard either, but from what I've read here, the Papst is definitely quieter.

The Panaflo shouldn't be too hard to find... if you're in Canada, try www.ncix.com. What I'd like to know is, where can I buy a 120mm Papst?

I have the papst 4412 and its dead quiet. I recently find out that noiseblocker's 120mm pushes 65cfm with 26dba.

Slightly OT but Aston, you can find Papst, Panaflo's and Evercool 120mm fans at www.vibecomputers.com for a decent price.

Well while we're off topic...

The enermax fan... the blue 120mm one with the speed control... is not as quiet @ 12v as people think. I have it, and yes it is pretty quiet out of the case... but in the case... i can't really identify if its vibrational or just noise bouncing off the walls in the case, it is really noisy, even at its lowest setting. There's a distinct low hum....and its very annoying ~.~...

HOWEVER... the SLK3700BQE stock fan in the back is really quiet, i love it. I'm pondering getting a Papst... :P The PSU in the back doesn't move a lot, and thus is why I'm also looking for a 400+W PSU that's quiet... possibly maybe a Seasonic 400... or an Enermax Noisetaker... any suggestions?

This site carrys Noiseblocker 120mm - 64cfm @ 26dba. It has the same dba as the papst 4412 but with more cfm.

Paspt 4412 - 55cfm @ 26dba
