Are there any 92mm fans Quieter than an 80mm Panaflo?
I am thinking about getting the SL-94 for my P4 2.4C processor.
I already have an 80mm Panaflo fan at home but I was wondering if i can improve performance and decrease sound by using a 92mm fan instead.
So is there any 92mm fan that is quieter than the 80mm panaflo?

Depends on what you are refering to.
If you want to find a 92mm fan that is quieter than an 80mm L1A at a certain voltage I don't think you will find any.
If you want a 92mm that makes less noise at the same airflow you might find one, but that depends on what airflow you got. If you run the 80mm at more than 7V there is a good chance to find a 92mm that can perform better.

Unfortunately, it appears that almost all (if not all, period) production has shifted out of Japan to China, and from the samples I've tested, the China-made ones are, unfortunately, far inferior to those made in Japan. My China made 80mm and 92mm L1As make more noise than my one Japan-made 92mm M1B.

Well, as I said; AcoustiFans are outstanding. Other than that, if you can get your hands on Japan made Panaflos, I honestly think they're quite good. ADDA fans (SilentX are actually just rebranded ADDA) are also very good, and suprisingly good are the Cooler Master Rifle-Bearing fans, if you want something faster (really!).
Do keep away from Vantec Stealth fans; oh boy are they horrendous...

I've heard that about SilenX fans as well, being undervolted ADDA fans. But then there was another opinion that they were a lot more than just undervolted adda fans, the blades and everything were different.Edward Ng wrote:Well, as I said; AcoustiFans are outstanding. Can anyone confirm or deny this? If they are ADDA fans, which model numbers are they? SilenX fans are ratherly expensive, especially the 120mm models, and if it's just a simple undervolt..
I have jus bought 2 x 120 mm panaflo fans (made in china) and both are noisy .
they growl (seem not to be balanced) at 12v and click badly at whatever the fan voltage is on an Antec fan only connector .
but as for 92 mm fans . I have just purchased a low speed EBM fan (made in Germany) for a Micro ATX mini tower I am building (P4 2.8 hyper threader)
and this fan is almost silent at 12v Quietest I have not heard .but does not flow much air , but it is enough. The guy at the electronics shop said EBM and Papst are the same fans but I do not know if this is true.

I just got a 80mm Japanaflo L1A and it's terrible noisy, at 12v the clicking and mechanical noise is very very audible.
But when it's undervolted to 5v (using fanmate) the noise decreases but it's still there. I've been using it on an FB123 bracket to cool my GPU and with the case closed I don't hear it, especially over my PSU.
The fan at 5v makes more noise than my M1A Japanaflo at 5v.
I'm thinking of maybe switching over to the Nexus 80mm.
As far as 92mm I have no idea which is best. There doesn't seem to be too many people using 92mm's around this forum.
But there is 1 fan that intrigues me (was thinking of using this to cool my chipset and video card on the FB123). Is the Nexus 92mm fan. I did a search and there's absolutly nothing about this fan. But their trackrecord for fans has been great, so it might be another winner.
Although it doesn't move much air, most of us would undervolt a Panaflo anyways.
